I think everybody knows about Michelangelo. If you are not, you must know Statue of David.

Michelangelo's drawings will come to the Seattle Art Museum from October 15, 2009 - January 31, 2010

Actually, I'm not interested in art because I can't understand these thing. I went Seattle Art Museum on Thursday with teacher but I couldn't understand everything about these.

New Vocabulary: preliminary = done or happening in order to prepare for main event or activity

Bon Odori

Every country has their own traditional dance. In my case, it called "Bon Odori".
My article said "Bon Odori will dance with folk music and the beating of a big drum." but I felt little strange because we use these word in Japanese. folk music can say "フォークミュージック" but pronunciation is "folk music" but meaning is "American folk song" because that word is from America!. Also we use drum as "ドラム" and pronunciation is "drum" but meaning is "drum for American music or rock band" so I felt extremely different. I imagined that American plays a guitar, somebody beating drum for rock band and Japanese are dancing next to these people.

It seems stupid but "dance with folk music and the beating of a big drum" is correct expression,,,,,except Japanese

If you go to Japan, you can find 7-ELEVEn anywhere you went because there are more than one-third 7-ELEVEn in Japan.(There are 34,200 7-ELEVEn in the world though more than 12,000 are in Japan.) Of course there is a lot of convenience stores so you can find another convenience store if you walk for 10 second. You may think that is joke but it is true. Here is picture of map that indicate all convenience stores in Tokyo

As you can see, it seems crazy but every red circle are convenience stores. here is a link. You can look around Tokyo that occupied by convenience stores.
I don't know why Japanese likes convenience store but I'm one of these so I like convenience stores.
I think every Japanese thinks that "Time is money" and "Time is heavier than money" so they want to be convenience store everywhere or they don't wait until next train.

By the way, Did you know 7-ELEVEn is official name of 7-ELEVEn. This is because they couldn't registration the name only number like "7-11" in 1927 so they changed the name into "7-ELEVEn"

sea fail

I went to sea fair on July 31. A a lot of figher's performance made me excited so that was pretty good except this homework.
Gail said to us that "Blog Post - Write about Sea Fair Weekend and post a picture. " oh, ok picture I see.
Then, here is my picture of sea fair.

In case you didn't notice, I draw red line on fighter's smoke.

It seems,,, sea fail

This is because I don't have a digital camera so I'm using my cell phone as digital camera. But cell phone is not good to take picture because it is just phone so ifI noticed coming fighter and prepare to take a photo, I cant take a photo because fighter is already gone like this!
Gail should have given homework like this "Blog Post - Write about Sea Fair Weekend and post a picture if you can."

BIG MAN JAPAN

story
Daisato is one of the hero of Japan and sometimes fight against big monster called Jyu. When he fight against these creatures, he will be shocked by thunder to be bigger. But some citizen says that we don't need him because he destruct a lot of thing every time he fight so Daisato was distressed by standing between criticize and fight.

I'm still remember what I thought when I saw this movie.
This is a peace of ,,,,!!!

This movie, "BIG MAN JAPAN" was shown in 2007 in Japan and produced by Hitoshi Matsumoto. He is one of the best comedian in Japan like Takeshi Kitano who is known as comedian and movie producer so we were expected how this movie is hilarious! However, that movie was bad and I almost shouted that "give my money back!!"(In Japan, we have to pay $20 each movie + popcorn & coke)
However, actually I know why this movie was not funny for me because Hitoshi Matsumoto was 44 years old and this movie was a lot of fun thing for specific people who are 44 years old and have lived in Japan since born! For example, played some music that is old hit song or say some old phrase that was popular when 44 years old were young! That's why I couldn't understand this movie. I think most of American can't understand this movie either so I recommend to see another movie as long as you are not Japanese and 44 years old.

DEPARTURES

Most of Japanese knows about this movie called "Departures (Japanese name : Okuribito)" because this movie received an Academy Award! (Foreign Language Film) Of course, I saw this movie when I was in Japan. My evaluate was 5 Stars!

This movie's leader was one of the cellist in his orchestra after disbanded, he backed to his hometown with his wife and get some job as an undertaker by some mistake.
He worked as an undertaker and see life and death.

To tell the truth, I thought all of Japanese movie that has serious theme are completely waste of money but comedy movie is really fun so the only way to survive Japanese movie is make only comedy movie before see this.

There was a
plain but deep-thought camera working (because of lower budget and Hollywood can't be made these plain thing because they love showy and loud), narrate without talking like traditional Japanese movie, laughing, crying, make considered life and death from a philosophy point of view, etc etc...

I think that this is one of the best Japanese movie however, there is a lot of expression for Japanese so It's difficult to understand foreign country people. (Still I can't understand why this movie
received award not in Japan but United States )

my room

My room have a lot of books. Most of these are my father's book because he can't throw away his old book even if he doesn't read anymore. He buys some book every time he go to a convenience store and put these on my room. That's why my room have a lot of books.

My room have a bed. I dreamed about to sleep on the bed for a long time when I was a child because some Japanese doesn't use bed and they use futon instead of a bed. Futon is a kind of bedding but It is just only sheet and blanket. You may think "what a weird bedding. It's so cheap" however, futon can put anywhere and you can put away anytime to get more space. This strong point is good for Japanese because they lives tiny house. By the way this bed made my happy when It was bought by my parent.

My room have a window. I felt bored about view from this window because I had lived in my house for about 17 years. But now I feel miss this view

,,,,and my dog from my room

Last week

Last week, I went to china town with my friend to go to festival.

To tell the truth, I don't know what name of this festival and that was boring. There are some stall that is for advertise for the sponsor and extremely expensive drink and food and boring quiz.
So we finished to walk around suddenly and went to downtown to eat something. After some conversation, we decided to go to Cheese Cake Factory so we went.

There is a lot of menu so we ordered different kind of food each person to share food. So we could held little party yay.

Walk on Moon

NASA releases clearest videos yet of 1969 moonwalk.

Some people believe that "United States went to the Moon" but the other say "It is LAME. America made this movie at Arizona for propaganda!"
I think that that movie is not true because United States didn't go to the moon anymore after this in spite of 40 years have passed since then!
Anyway NASA released new video about moon for 40 years anniversary. This video is restored clearly.

My father said to me "United States landed on the moon absolutely."
In his generation (they were young in 1970), "Land on the Moon" was a dream and symbol of "progress and harmony of human happy" so they doesn't matter whether true or not.

Introduction

”Celebrity” this word have different meaning between in Japan and United States.
In United States, "Celebrity" means "
A person who is famously recognized in a society.(and has Chihuahua)"
In Japan, we usually call "Celeb" as Celebrity. And this have a different meaning that is just "A person who have a lot of money" or "who is living bigger house with luxurious" or "who have a lot of Louis Vuitton or PRADA or something famous and expensive thing" (and has Chihuahua). There is not have to be famous person.
So maybe I can't use this word correct meaning.

  • Which Celebrity do you admire most?
As I said, most of Japanese think "Celebrity? oh, you mean American Celeb? I never admire Paris Hilton or these kind of Celeb!!" when they (and me) heard "Celebrity". But I noticed that It's strange to write Paris Hilton as Homework! so I consulted a dictionary. Now I know meaning of this word.
A celebrity who admire me is,,, nobody.
Because I can't remind without Paris Hilton even though I know correct meaning!!!
Sorry Gail.

  • Would you like to be famous? Why or Why not?
I want to be a famous because famous person have a lot of money like Paris Hilton. but I don't want to be like her. Maybe actually I just want be a rich man.
  • Do you think there is a relationship between celebrity and beauty?
Yes, of course.
Celebrity have a lot of money means they can change their face to be beauty by orthopedics like Michael Jackson ( but I know he failed.).
However I know there is no relationship between celebrity and money but I can't think separate these words!!!

Thriller

Michael Jackson is dead.

His death was a terrible shock to world's people and many people want to come back. Also, I'm one of these people so I've been checking news website every morning since he died.
A lot of my classmates wrote about this news so I was bored about it! so I found some interested news about Michael Jackson that is he's back! ,,,as a zombie like thriller.
Here is some video from youtube. You will understand everything that I want to say after you saw this video.

As you can see, someone's shadow passes a Neverland doorway but there are only shadow! so we can see behind that was transparent! It's strange and
interesting occurrence. I think that he was back to play "real" thriller.

By the way, I saw this news on TV but I couldn't noticed that shadow because when I was watching that news, I thought that "Oh, CNN is broadcasting same news again." and I saw the news noncommittally,,, I had better to watch carefully.

7/4

When Japanese heard "Independence Day", they imagines the movie that Alien comes to U.S. and destroy everything as possible they can. However, in the United States, "Independence Day" means,,, "Happy Birthday America!! Happy Birthday America!!"
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light

and fireworks boom boom yuppieeee america america!
This is a Independence Day in United States.

However, Happy Independence Guys are not walking around the city so it's quiet,,,in the day time.

There are so many people in there in spite of it's 5 hours to 10:00 PM.
Today, I'm now in the Gas Work Park to watch a fireworks.

Fireworks will start at 10:00 though there are so many many people.

Of course, there is a stall.(it means Japan too)

In 7 or 8 O' clock, Gas Work Park was occupied by Happy Independence Guys.

And they started to sing a national anthem in 10:00PM. After song, fireworks has started at least

I imagined that american fireworks is bigger and louder than Japanese one. However that was almost same. Anyway that was awesome fireworks.

This is midnight Downtown in my way back

about me

I'm from Japan so I speak Japanese. All of my family are Japanese too. I have a father, and mother, and younger sister, and one dog and two fish. My father's job is selling graves. Actually I don't know how to write in English, but anyway he is selling graves. My mother is a houseworker so she always do some housework or take care of dog&fish. My sister is a student of elementry school and ten years old. My dog's name is Char. I got him at charity market for free 13 years ago.
I want to be a movie translater (English to Japanese) in the future because I like to watch movies, so I'm learning English here. After I finish ESL, I will transfer to this college by using College Bridge.
